E M D R
When Evan is at his psychologist for an E.M.D.R. (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) treatment to process the trauma he has from his parents' divorce. Evan has to go back to the moment, back to his trauma. He relives the entire experience. They do it several times until the psychologist wants to try a different approach. She changes a few words, confusing Evan. Evan does what he has been doing the whole time, closing his eyes and reliving the moment, but now there's something different. He sees the moment very differently. Instead of his parents telling him they are divorcing, he sees someone standing between them. He sees his parents now lying dead on the ground. The person between them turns out to be Evan himself. Evan is in disbelief. He becomes angry and attacks the psychologist. The security guard quickly intervenes and removes him. The psychologist reveals that this has been one of several attempts and that she is going to try again.
