Nurlan Segizbayev

October 28, 1951 (73 years old) in Alma-Ata, Kazakh SSR, USSR, (now Almaty, Kazakhstan)

In 1974, he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Ust-Kamenogorsk Pedagogical Institute with a degree in "Teacher of Russian Language and Literature." In 1978, he entered the Scriptwriting Faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK), from which he successfully graduated in 1982 (under the tutelage of E.V. Gabrilovich, L.V. Golubkina, S.L. Lungin, and I.V. Vaisfeld). He began his career in 1974 as a school teacher in the village of Katon-Karagai. From 1974 to 1977, he worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature and deputy principal for academic work at a school in Katon-Karagai, East Kazakhstan region. Since 1982, he has been an editor of feature films at the "Kazakhfilm" studio. From 1987 to 1990, he worked as an editor at the national television channel "Qazaqstan." Since 2006, he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi. Since 2010, he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of "Cinema and TV" at the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov. From 2003 to 2019, he worked as a feature film editor at JSC "Kazakhfilm." Since 2021, he has been a senior lecturer at the Department of Electronic Media in the Cinema and Media Studies Department of the Faculty of Journalism at the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi.
