Jean-François Richet

Jean-François Richet (born July 2, 1966) is a French film director and screenwriter. Debuting with État des lieux (1995) and Ma 6-T va crack-er (1997), he earned early critical notice for his gritty portrayals of French suburban life. Richet expanded into international genre filmmaking with the remake Assault on Precinct 13 (2005). He achieved major critical acclaim with his two-part biographical crime epic Mesrine (2008), for which he won the César Award for Best Director. His subsequent directorial credits include Blood Father (2016), The Emperor of Paris (2018), and Plane (2023).
